Flamenco Dance Studio London (FDSL) is a non-lucrative organization dedicated to promote Flamenco and Classical Spanish Dance in London, Ontario. Since 2006, the FDSL members bring international renowned flamenco dancers and choreographers to our students. We have mentored local talents among the Canadian and Latin Community in their training to become new leaders of the London flamenco life. We provide ongoing classes at the FDSL and at several dance studios in town where we focus on Spanish Dance (involving castanets training), flamenco dance technique and musical rhythms for new beginners and intermediate dancers. The school dancers appear regularly in private/public events and independent music/dance projects on the South Western Ontario. The FDSL founder has also been involved in the cultural arts scene of London as a presenter, creating cultural awareness on Classical Spanish Music and Flamenco Dance performances under Pitimini Rose and Canela Dust Productions. Shows presented: “Music from Spain”, November 2006, a solo piano recital featuring classical pianist Lluís Avendaño with a fine a selection of Spanish and Latino American piano composers, and “Facetas Flamencas”, December 2007, a sold out event performed by Katerina La Greca as a soloist, Nicolas Hernández and José Vega, guitars and Hedi el moro, cante. The FDSL was recently nominated in the Latin Leadership Awards given by the magazine Latino, as a outstanding multicultural organization in the city.
Our programs run monthly for woman, girls and anyone interested in the rich Spanish legacy of Flamenco. The Flamenco Music and all its related artistic environment has recently been named Cultural Heritage of the Humanity by the UNESCO organization.
